Training Programs

Private Pilot

To earn a Private Pilot License single-engine rating, under Part 61, the student must log at least 40 hours of flight time, including at least 20 hours of flight training from a flight instructor and 10 hours of solo time, 5 of which need to be cross-country to include one solo cross-country of at least 150 nautical miles. The student is required to complete 3 hours of cross-country flying as well as 3 hours of night flying, with 1 cross-country flight of over 100 nautical miles NM and 10 takeoffs and 10 landings to a full stop at an airport. Additionally, the student must complete 3 hours of flight utilizing their instruments, completing straight and level flight, airspeed climbs and descents, heading turns, attitude recovery, radio contact and the use of navigation and radar services as necessary. The student must also perform 3 hours of flight training with their instructor to ready themselves for their practical exam test within 60 days of the exam's date.

Instrument Rating

The instrument rating is the next step of training after earning the Private pilot certificate. Instrument pilots learn to control the aircraft solely by reference to the aircraft's instruments. With an instrument rating you will be able to fly in marginal weather conditions. Ground training is accomplished using our state-of-the-art Computer Based Instruction program that uses fully interactive graphics and full motion video. Flight training is completed in a Piper aircraft equipped with the latest radios and avionics.

Multi-Engine Rating

Multi-engine flying is a core competency for pilots aspiring to airline and corporate careers. The core of multi-engine training is planning for an engine failure and flying with one engine inoperative (OEI). Multi-engine pilots must be ready at any moment to deal with an engine failure and assure a safe outcome. Training requires between 10 and 20 hours of training, with no written exam required, just a checkride oral and practical.
